Manee tdai Restaurant in Gray

Very sadly, my once very high praise for Manee Thai now must be redacted. When they first opened, I was extremely impressed by the freshness of the ingredients used, the consistency with which the food was prepared and their expeditious, courteous service. While the quality of the ingredients appears to have stayed close to the same, the consistency with which the food is prepared has not - nor has the service. Spiciness of food can vary widely depending on the night, and in the last year, every time I've ordered takeout there, the wait has been abysmal - solidly AT LEAST a 1/2 hour LONGER than what I was told on the phone when placing the order, and twice now, it was actually a full hour longer - NO exaggeration. The wait, compounded by having to listen to their young male host as he attempts to regale young female customers with his "worldly charms" has just become too much.

Sure, it's a bit pricey, but it's hard to find a decent Thai place nearby. I'm always amazed at how clean it is. Often mostly take out places are in pretty rough shape. Not here. And the food is consistently good.

Best curry around and the owner is extremely friendly.

I ordered pad Thai with chicken and got chicken/mushroom with broth. Can't even call it soup. Didn't realize til I got home, too late. I ate it, was that or nothing. It was good but totally not what I wanted. The spring roll were huge and really good.

Really great Tai food and very authentic. Don't be tuned off by the outside, because the food is worth it.

They don't really pay attention when you ask for NO HEAT!

Nice small Thai place. Food was excellent, service was a bit slow but not in a bad way. Tom kaa soup was good, though a bit lacking in depth, spicy pad thai was excellent with just enough heat and a generous portion of duck. Definitely going to be on my Thai restaurant rotation from now on.

Great food, very authentic and tasty. Love the green curry with three stars, perfectly spicy. The wonton soup and fried dumplings are great as well. Very friendly staff. Limited beverage selection with no alcohol.

Third time's a charm. Mediocre food, rude service, and three times we were missing add-ons to our order. We always give the benefit of the doubt but this seems to be a pattern here. Wish there was Thai comparable to Thai Garden in Freeport. Oh well. We likely will not return...

The food is so good! I have never been to Thailand, and some Thai restaurants seem to similar to chinese, but this place is different. When was the last time you had lemongrass? The service is a bit slow, but the wait is worth it.

I'm so conflicted -- 2/3 times, this is superior, authentic Thai food, and 1/3 times, it's deeply mediocre. We choose to keep rolling the dice, but I'll let you know if I unlock the pattern!

We love this place. Everything is so fresh and tastes great. It's worth the drive if you don't live close by.

Great food and great prices

The food was pretty good but a little bit overpriced compared to Portland. The service on the other hand was a horror show to the point where it was kind of entertaining to watch. We actually watched a woman practically beg to pay for her take out order that was ready for almost 15 minutes while the waiter answered the phone

Everything I love about paad Thai was no exsistant in this dish. And the 1 star heat rating I normally get at other restaurants was a fire ball. Inedible.

I've returned here several times over the last few years hoping for something. The staff is difficult to communicate with, the presentation is poor, preparation always takes longer than expected, the meats are rubbery, the noodles are just outside of mushy, and their idea of 5 star is disappointing. You should only go here for your noodle fix if you're desperate. I'm not above admitting noodle desparation.

We arrived after 8 PM on a winter week night. Our dinners were freshly cooked, hot, delicious, and arrived quickly. We recommend Volcano Chicken!

Exceeded our expectations for a Thai food place in Gray, ME. There are a small handful of places we like in Portland, and this place comes very close to all of them. The food is fresh, seasoned well, and they do their spice rating pretty well. We've ordered out at least 3-4 times since we moved in this month and haven't had a bad meal yet. Service has been great, they already remember us when we order. Happy to have a great place close by to get good food.

Very friendly staff... I didn't have enough money one time to cover drinks and he gave them to me for free. I go there at least once a week and they are by far the BEST THAI in Maine! Southern at least I've tried almost all in Portland and Westbrook and windham! No other THAI restaurant compares so I've stopped trying new ones cause nobody comes close to the yumminess here! Wait time is sometimes a little long they are becoming really popular so maybe a little understaffed I would work there if I could.... But I would give a 100 stars if I could and I love my pad Thai..

Food was ok, it was very salty and both of our dishes had pineapple which was not described on the menu and which we would have asked to he omitted. The ambiance is not great, I think most people get takeout.

Phenomenal service and great food for a reasonable price. I really want to mention how hard the guy up front is working. Literally running back and forth taking orders, supporting the kitchen and answering the phone all with an great attitude and without skipping a beat.

This place is fantastic! My girlfriend and I eat here all the time. We have had several of the different dishes they offer here and they have all be excellent. The food is well worth the price you pay. I highly recommend this place for anyone who likes Thai food or is interested in trying Thai food.

A wonderful gem in the heart of Gray, Maine! I just got back from a 3 week trip to Thailand, let me say this is real Authentic Thai cuisine! The owners and staff here are also wonderful. Super nice people. Please try the Pad ke mow or other dishes. All great! Love this place, support a local business.
